NATO is to "Acronym" as FBI is to... ?

An ACRONYM is a pronouncable word formed by the first letters or parts of other words: NATO, OPEC, FEMA, etc. But what is the word for initials that are not pronouncable as a word, that are spoken as individual letters: FBI, CIA, etc.?
